Text Indexer is a free Addition (plug-in module) for UltraFind 2.5.3.
Text Indexer 2.0 is a modern indexing engine for Mac & PowerPC that can pre-index your documents making text searches not just fast - but instant. Supplied as a plug-in module for UltraFind 2.5.3, the Text Indexer module makes UltraFind's text searches not just super-fast, but instant.
If you frequently have to search through large amounts of text then you should pre-index your documents so that rather than searching through files on your disks UltraFind can simply search its index.
Designed to allow text searches with Context display (shows the actual sentences the words were found in!), it indexes target sets of folders which can be anywhere - on your hard disk or network, or even on CD-ROMs or on off-line volumes.
Unlike any other indexer, it does not produce false hits, it can search on parts of words as well as whole words, it will index all languages - including Japanese, and it can index all known document types.
Note that While indexing provides super-fast access to your documents, the downside is that the indexing process itself is normally very slow and should be done either in the background or at night (You would not want watch a few thousand documents being indexed). However, this Text Indexer is incremental and therefore does not need to re-index everything, instead it only indexes new or updated documents, making re-indexing simple and very fast.
MAIN FEATURES

INSTALLATION
The Text Indexer Addition must be placed in the UltraFind folder (located in the Preferences folder, in your System folder). UltraFind automatically loads any Additions it finds in it's folder and places them into it's 'Additions' menu. (Tip: If you double-click any UltraFind Addition module, UltraFind will put it in the correct folder for you, and load it into it's menu.)
UPGRADING?
If you are upgrading from an older version of the indexer please make sure you remove the older version from the UltraFind folder (otherwise UltraFind will continue to load the older version).
HELP
A brief manual for this indexer is available in UltraFind's Online Help (in the File Menu).
Supplied with the Indexer Addition module is a plain text file (Simpletext) containing standard English Stop Words. To use the Stop Words file, it must be located in the UltraFind folder, in your Preferences folder. Stop Words are words such as "the, they, them, house," etc., which are too ordinary and general to be indexed. The Stop Words file therefore helps to keep the size of the index file smaller by not indexing these words. You can add words to the Stop Words file using any Word Processor (or Simpletext). You can create a localised Stop Words file in any language, however the file must be called "Stop Words" for the Indexer to recognise it.
